Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihoods Mission (TNSRLM)

 

        Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihoods Mission is implemented by the Government of Tamil Nadu from the year 2012-13. The objectives of TNSRLM are to build strong and vibrant institutional platforms of the poor in the rural areas which enable them to increase their household income through livelihood enhancements and access to financial and other services. Under this scheme, the target group comprises of poor, very poor, vulnerable and differently abled.

 

     Important features of TNSRLM                                                                                    

o    Focus is on the very poor, poor, vulnerable and differently abled unlike other schemes.

o    Identification and mobilization of the left out poor into the SHG network.

o    Establishing and strengthening community organisations for the development of rural

poor.

o    Social empowerment of the rural poor through capacity building.

o    Improving the quality of the SHG products and facilitating marketing.

o    Providing financial assistance to SHGs for lending to their members for taking up

economic activities.

o    Employment linked skill training for rural youth.

o    Convergence with the Government departments to leverage their financial and

non-financial services and utilizing them in an effective manner.

o    Enabling the rural poor to access basic facilities and to train them in

conserving their environment and sanitation.
